Kingdom Triathlon - Swimming, Biking, and Running Event at Lake Salem, Derby, VT

The Second Annual Kingdom Triathlon will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Derby Beach House on Lake Salem in Derby, Vermont in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom. This event will include a 500 yard swim, a 13 mile bike through scenic routes 111 and 105, concluding with a 5 mile run around Derby Pond. Kingdom Triathlon offers a competitive opportunity for some as well as a great recreational event for individuals and 3 person teams of all ages and all athletic abilities.

Prizes worth over $2,000 will be offered in a variety of categories including: highest pledges, best times, youngest and oldest participants, and largest group participating (including families). So far, Louis Garneau, IROC, and Jay Peak have donated prizes and more are being gathered from area businesses right up to the day of the event.

The registration fee is $25 for an individual, $45 for a 3 person relay team, and $5 for youth under 18 years old which includes lunch and IROC’s internationally acclaimed smoothies after the event. A minimum pledge is requested of $25 per individual, $45 per 3 person relay team and $5 per youth. All pledges support IROC’s groundbreaking Healthy Changes Initiative promoting regular exercise by people suffering from chronic conditions.

Pre registration prior to August 10th, 2009 will assure that registrants also get a free T-Shirt.
Individuals, three person relay teams and sponsored groups of participants are already signing up for the event. A number of local businesses and organizations are fielding teams of individuals and/or one or more 3 person relay teams, including Decelles Investments, IROC, DeLaBruere Custom Homes and Jennifer E. Nelson, Esq. P.C. IROC is encouraging businesses, organizations, schools, and families to field a group of employees, customers, students, teachers, and friends, including groups of individuals doing the entire triathlon as well as 3 person relay teams. The largest sponsored group of participants will receive some great prizes.
